How to buy Pokémon single cards

Choose the right Pokémon card by checking its set, number, language, printing, condition and photographs of the exact copy you will receive.

Identify the card you want

Start with the card name, set and card number. A familiar character can appear on many different cards, so the name alone does not identify a particular release. Use the set and card-number information on the product page to compare it with your collection.

Next, check the listing language and printing. If you collect a specific language or finish, keep those requirements in mind when using the catalogue filters. A lower-priced copy may differ in condition or printing from another copy of the same card.

Inspect the exact copy

Each single-card listing represents one physical copy. Open its inspection view and compare the front and back photographs. Look at the edges, corners and surface, and check the condition label alongside the photographs. Catalogue artwork identifies the card; it does not show the wear of an individual copy.

Choose a condition that suits your collection and budget. Read the condition guide when comparing codes such as NM and LP. If a detail in the photographs is unclear, ask the store before ordering rather than assuming that a condition code guarantees a particular appearance.

Review the price and purchasing requirements

Check the current price and availability on the product page. Copies can sell independently, so a card appearing in the catalogue does not guarantee that your preferred copy remains available. Confirm the selected copy again in your basket.

Earned membership discounts and sealed-product access depend on your qualifying purchases. Read the membership page for the current rules; a sealed product may be visible before you qualify to purchase it. Review the store’s delivery, sales and returns information before completing checkout.
